SUMMER FESTIVAL 2000 |

| THIS was a great event, in spite of
the rain, as you can see from the 'lady in pink' our visitor from Canada.
It's amazing how fashion comes round! We rolled out our Town Crier who did a
very useful job keeping everyone under control including the Mayor and
Mayoress. The clog dancers were exceptionally good as were the rest of the
people taking part in our very happy and successful day. Edwardian ladies
have our sympathy it was quite difficult coping with those wide panniers on
our narrow very crowded streets, but it was great fun. In the evening we finished the Summer Festival with a sail along our famous Bridgewater Canal to our equally famous Barton Aqueduct, everyone really enjoyed viewing our local heritage at the end of a long day. Worsley Cruising Club joined in with their own flotilla of boats, it was a wonderful sight to see and both young and old enjoyed this part of the day and evening. We really do owe Worsley Cruising Club a vote of thanks for the assistance given. |
